Frequently asked questions
- What is included in the free plan?
- The free plan covers up to five patient records, the iOS capture app, standard photo storage, visit history tracking, and five patient share links per month. There is no time limit; the plan remains free as long as you stay on it.
- Can I change plans later?
- Yes, at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated to the day. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period, so existing records and photos remain accessible until then.
- Does the evaluation period require a credit card?
- No. The 14-day Pro and Clinic evaluations begin without a credit card on file. You will be asked for billing details only if you choose to continue on a paid plan.
- Who owns the clinical records?
- The clinician who creates a record owns it. Records are scoped to the clinician by default and shared explicitly. Patient images are not used to train third-party models. Data is stored in encrypted cloud infrastructure.
- Do patients need their own account?
- No. Patients receive a signed, time-limited link to their visit summary and selected photographs. A dedicated patient companion application is on the roadmap for Pro and Clinic plans.
- Is there companion hardware?
- A calibrated attachment is planned for release in 2026. It will pair with both the iOS and Android capture applications. Specifications and pre-order details will be published on the product page when available.
- How is annual billing structured?
- Annual plans are billed once per year at the discounted rate. Cancellations within the first 30 days are eligible for a full refund.
- Is SkinMD a medical device?
- SkinMD is a clinical documentation tool. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, and it does not replace clinical judgment. Any structured observations generated by SkinMD Lens are intended for clinician review only.
